Water Boogie finally up on the site. We do apologize for the
delay, but rest assured, we have them up, and will be adding
even more pictures to them soon. Check out some of the fun

SKYDIVING LANDING AREA NOW AT THE
BELEN AIRPORT!
Posted September 28, 2003
After a long and
lengthy negotiation with the Belen Alexander Airport, the
associated businesses and the community representatives and
local residents, we have secured a landing area just south
of the airport itself. Mrs. Burris, a local landowner just
south of the airport runway, has graciously granted us
access to perform skydiving landing on her property. We have
just completed the construction of the landing area, cleared
the area surrounding it of weeds and brush (and a couple
rattlers), and begin landing at this area earlier this
month. You can see a couple pictures of the landing area
below.
To land at this area, and
not at the usual landing zone a couple miles south of the
airport, you must be certified by an instructor/jumpmaster
or one of the owners of the aircraft we currently conduct
skydiving out of. There is a briefing and quiz that all
skydivers who wish to land at this area must complete. All
new static line students will be required to land at the
other drop zone. Experienced students may qualify to land at
the airport, provided an instructor gives the go ahead for
you to go through the training.
This is a great step for
all skydivers here and for the club. Let's make sure we all
act accordingly and show the airport that we can do this
safely and properly! Click on an image below to open a
larger version in a new browser window.

expressed about having one more water training class before
the Water Boogie, there will be another class held this
Friday, August 22nd. Again, this will be held at the
mountainside YMCA at Comanche and Tramway. Class will begin
at 6:30 p.m., and probably last about an hour and a half.

year's water boogie, to commemorate the 15th year of this
event. We are producing both short and long sleeves this
year, with both a front and a back design printed in color.
the main design on the back depicts our own Rudi Krenz
landing in lake Conchas from a previous Water Boogie. Sizes
are VERY limited at this point, and the shirts are available
at the drop zone during operations on the weekends. Short
Sleeve shirts are $16.00, and the long sleeve shirts are

DON'T FORGET ABOUT EATING AT THE DZ!
Posted July 14, 2003
As many of us know,
Carolina's Cafe is located on the second floor of the hanger
where Skydive New Mexico operates at the Belen Alexander
Airport. But for those of you who don't, and haven't
experienced the excellent breakfast and lunch fare offered
there, you're missing out! Whether you're jumping regularly
with us, or are just coming out to do a tandem, remember
that there is great food at very reasonable prices available
right at the hanger, so that you don't have to go out into
town if you're hungry for more than the snacks we sell.
Carolina is a great cook and a wonderful person, so you not
only get great food, but you'll get a great conversation out
of her as well! And, you'll be supporting yet another
business out at the airport. The Cafe is open from 8 am
until 2 pm, serving both breakfast and lunch items
throughout the entire time. It's well worth it, and will
enhance your experience out at the DZ.

plane to Lake Conchas for water jumps. The cost last year
was $20.00 for the boogie fee, $15.00 per jump ticket, and
$10.00 boat fee per water jump. Camping and lodging is
available at the lake. Landing areas for non-water jumps are
at the campsite and nearby golf course. No water rigs are
available for rent. Water training in accordance with USPA
guidelines is required. The plane is a C-182, but it climbs
to 10,000 feet AGL in about 20-25 minutes.

north of the hanger, like last year. Expect to see smoke
jumps, great 4-way formations, and the Bird-Man might make
an appearance, too. Other flying events will also be going
on along with static displays and food. Come on out and

MEMBERSHIP DUES/BOARD ELECTIONS!
Posted April 17, 2003
It's that time of year
again, divers. Club membership dues are due, and board
elections are coming soon. For the year of 2003-2004, full
membership dues are $30.00 for all jumpers who regularly
jump at SNM. Dues are due by April 31st, 2003. If you do

annual water boogie, provide food and drink at other special
events, and allows the board to handle the day-to-day
operations of running the club.
Pay your dues at the drop
zone, to manifest. You will also have to fill out a contact
information sheet, so that we can get you the ballot for
this year's board elections. Elections will take place in
May. If you would like to be considered for the Board,
please Contact SNM al let them
know that you want to help out!

SKYDIVING WEATHER FROM ACROSS THE
COUNTRY!
Posted March 5, 2003
Making a trip to
another drop zone, and want to know whet the weather is
like, or projected to be? Now you can check out an online,
updated weather report for anywhere in the U.S.A. Not only
that, but it isn't by city, state, or any of that useless
information. It's by drop zone!
Skydiving Weather is a web site the offers online,
continuously updated weather information for any dropzone in
the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska! Some of the
information they offer are current conditions, forecast
conditions at the drop zone for the next 12 hours, satellite
pictures of weather conditions, as well as weather
conditions and forecasts for the next several days for the
county in which the drop zone is situated. While the Belen
Airport link below is extremely useful for those of us
jumping as Skydive New Mexico, should you be considering a
visit to another drop zone, check out the weather there
before heading out. This link is also located in the
About and
School sections of this web site.
